The stacked stag-horn baby sweater is a snuggly, classic, and easy drop-shoulder pull-over with an elegant cable adorning the front, appropriate for both girls and boys.

Finished measurement: approximately 18” (19.5”)

Yarn: about 320yd of any springy DK-weight will do. The large cables (you’re crossing six stitches at a time) mean that an animal fiber will be your best bet because of the elasticity.

NOTES: The most recent version of the pattern includes a different method for working increase that is much cleaner and more attractive. I have also added charts. If you downloaded this file prior to February 21, 2014, please re-download it.

ERRATA: I corrected an error in the cable instructions on February 16, 2014. Please re-download this if you got this pattern on an earlier date!

A correction for the shoulder decreases follows and will be incorporated in the next publishing:

Wearer’s right shoulder (if you’re looking at the front of the sweater, it will be the left side):
Row 1: p12 (p14), k2, ssp, p1
Row 2: k1, ssk, p1, k12 (k14)
Row 3: p12 (p14), ssp, p1
Row 4: k1, ssk, k11 (k13)
Row 5: p10 (p12), ssp, p1
Row 6: k1, ssk, k9 (k11)
Row 7: p8 (p10), ssp, p1
Row 8: k1, ssk, k7 (k9) -- 9 (11) sts remain

Knit in stockinette until the divided shoulder measures 2” (10.5” (11”) from cast-on edge).
Wearer’s left shoulder:
Row 1: p1, p2tog, k2, p12 (p14)
Row 2: k12 (k14), p1, k2tog, k1
Row 3: p1, p2tog, p11 (p13)
Row 4: k10 (k12), k2tog, k1
Row 5: p1, p2tog, p10 (p12)
Row 6: k9 (k11), k2tog, k1
Row 7: p1, p2tog, p8 (p10)
Row 8: k7 (k9), k2tog, k1 -- 9 (11) sts remain

Currently, only 6- and 12-month sizes are available but I am working on sizing it up. If you would like to test knit a larger size, please PM me.
