I have seen some deers just running next to our bus parallel to the road this week on the way back home.
So close…

So I thought it was time for a stag beanie.
The fact that my name means “hunter” in English may be also to blame for it ;-)
As well as a special Gilmore girls episode ;-)

If you use a silver color instead of the light brown it will become more christmas-like.

It has my typical dotted corrugated (two color ribbing) and three bands of stags and nice little border pattern.

It is a bit bigger than my normal beanies because it has some more stitches.
For bigger sizes you can go up one or two needle sizes and/or use 5-ply yarn (like Buttinette Madeleine Merino or similar).

The beanie in the photograph is knit from 4-ply sock yarn of different manufacturers.
I put in some brand names but you do not have to use these. You can use any 4-ply sock yarn you have in your stash.
You will need about 30 g of each of the three colors.

There are at most two colors in one round. As the color change only between border pattern and deers it is also suitable for stranded knitting beginners.

Enjoy and happy stag knitting!

“Hirsch heisst mein Vater…” ;-)
