The cap uses about 50 yards of main color and 20 yards of each color changes. You use only one color of yarn at a time across the hat. Changing colors at the end of each second row. This makes it a very easy hat to make for a beginner and super simple for an expert, but it really has a clever look, everyone so far that has seen i,t really like it.
The Cap is worked in size for kids, to teens to adults. You can make one for every member of the family. Changing to darker colors makes it more masculine for men.
The color changes is a great way to use of scrap yarn. Most of us have a ball of about 50 yards. So this is an inexpensive cap to make. Almost no yarn purchase is necessary. You can make each color change a different color. I chose to use 3 color changes but you can make every 2 row color changes different.
You can also use a single color for the contrast or use a verigated yarn to make a viberant contrast in the windows.
