This cape is a simple garter design (knit only, no purl) with short rows. It’s a quick knit, excellent for distracted knitting, yet the finished garment is stunning! It is worked in one piece flat from the left side across to the back to the right side.

Skill level: Beginner
Dimensions of shawl: The shawl is designed to be warn as a three-quarter length cape with an opening in the center front. Width at collar 31 inches / 79 cm, length 26 inches / 66 cm. One size fits most, but directions are given for decrease or increase.
Materials:
• Needles: US 8 / 5 mm
• Yarn: 950 yards / 869 m of MC, and 280 yards / 260 m of CC in Aran weight or yarn needed to obtain gauge. Differing weight yarn can change the yardage needed to complete the project and finish the finished size.
• Darning needle
Gauge: 14 stitches/ 30 rows per 4 inches/10 cm in garter, lightly blocked. Exact gauge not critical but can affect size of garment and yardage needed to complete garment.
Definitions:
• cc – Contrasting color
• co – Cast on
• k - Knit
• keor – Knit to end of row
• mc – Main Color
• st – Stitch
• w&t – wrap and turn - After last stitch, move one stitch to the right-hand needle, wrap the yarn around the stitch from back to the front. Slip the stitch back to the left needle and turn the piece around to begin working in the other direction. Or your preferred method for short rows
