Notes section in pattern should be read carefully to understand stitches. There are pictures included to help see the more difficult parts. I used yarn from my stash-less than a skein of each color. One beanie was made with I Love This Yarn (variegated) and mainstays (black). The other is made with Caron Simply Soft and Red Heart Super Saver.
