Translated from A Knitting-Book of Counterpanes: Toilet-Covers, Pincushions, and Other Articles of Fancy Work (1871) by Mrs. George Cupples.

Can be used as a block for a counterpane, or (as in the photographs accompanying the article) as the top of a pincushion. Or use it for a dishcloth, a pillow cover–whatever takes your fancy.

Quite a nice piece for using up scraps.
