The night sky in the Sierra Nevada is dark and clear, and most nights we can see the Milky Way. Meteor showers are incredible here, and I designed star shower with those special times in mind.

Designed for Knits and Knots Minden/the fourth annual Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl, this shawl uses yarn from two of my very favorite local dyers! Kits are available here.

This pattern includes fully written instructions. It’s designed in wedges with short rows, and uses an elongated ornament as well as slipped stitches to create the star shower effect. Photo tutorials for the ornament, fringe placement, and German short rows are included. A full drawing showing fringe placement is also included. Yarn tails from stripes are not woven in, but are incorporated into the fringe.
