This listing is a knitting pattern for a stuffed toy version of Admiral Ackbar from Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, stylized like the classic Red Mouth Sock Monkey Toy (so it’s a hybrid of the two). The combination of Admiral Ackbar awesomeness and classic Sock Monkey style results in an adorable, cuddly stuffed toy great for Star Wars fans both young and old.

Finished measurements are: Torso and head = 10” circumference, Head to toe = Approx. 21” long, Legs = 8” long, Arms = 7.5” long, Legs and arms = 5” around, Head = 8” from dome to chin

The pattern is 12 pages long and includes pictures, diagrams and detailed instructions. Technically, it requires that you be able to knit in the round, crochet short chains, so short-rows (I provide detailed instructions for the short-row sections), do a three needle bind-off (I provide some rough instructions for a three needle bind-off) and be able to do a provisional cast-on (NOTE: I do NOT provide instructions for doing a provisional cast-on in the pattern!). Stitches required are: knit, purl and decrease. The mouth and nostrils require some basic embroidery and the overall assembly requires some hand sewing.

I would classify this as an intermediate knit, but if you’re an advanced beginner interested in practicing the techniques needed for sock knitting, this would be a good project. If you’re experienced with sock knitting, it’ll be a cake walk (a cake walk during which it would be totally appropriate to yell “IT’S A TWAAAPPP!” from time to time).

Requires 1.5 skeins of RYC Cashsoft in “Admiral” and 2 skeins of RYC Cashsoft in “Cream” and some dk weight scraps of yellow, black and silver or gray yarns.
