Starflower is knit on a mid-gauge or bulky knitting machine. Each petal is knit separately, then joined with a crochet hook. This is the center of your starflower. You then hang the sides of the petals (the parts not joined) back onto the needles of your machine, and with short rows and fully fashioned decreases complete the leaves.

Gauge is not important, but I recommend setting the tension dial to the number appropriate for the yarn you use. This pattern works for any number of yarns, and therefore many gauges. It’s a great way to use up leftovers.
