Video tutorial: How to knit slipped stitch edge
Starflower is a chunky beret where the brim is knitted separately and later the stitches for body are picked up from the selvage stitches of the brim. The crown decreases form a “seven petal flower”, hence the name of the beret. The ends of the brim are fastened with a button.

Yarn: 2 skeins Gedifra Highland Alpaca (100 g = 44 yards/41 m)
Needles and notions:
US15 (10 mm) and #17 (12 mm) dpn (or 24’’/60 cm circular).

Gauge: with needles US17 (12 mm) 8 sts and 10 rows = 4x4’’/10x10cm in St st.
Note: If you are using some other yarn, choose needles that give you a bit looser texture then normal in order to get a slouchy beret.
