A fun, sporty beanie that makes the most of the two-tone, reversible nature of brioche stitch. Opt for low contrast shades for a subtle panel detail, or go bold with high contrast shades for an assymetric look.

All winter accessory patterns are £3 individually or £5 for any 2, no code necessary.

YARN: Lily Kate Makes Axis Worsted (90% merino, 10% suri alpaca, 100m per 50g skein), 1 skein in each of 2 shades.

Sample shown uses shades Caldera as Yarn A (red) and Love Number as Yarn B (pink).

Alternatively, you will need 98m / 109 yards of worsted weight yarn in each of 2 shades.

GAUGE: 14 sts and 42 rows in brioche stitch on 4.5mm needles, blocked. See Notes on swatching.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS:
4.5mm 16” / 40cm circular needle for main body of hat
4.5mm needle(s) of your preferred method for small circumferences in the round (eg. DPNs / long circular needle)
3 stitch markers (including 1 lockable) OR 2 stitch markers + 1 cable needle
Tapestry needle

SIZE: one size, to fit average adult head. Finished hat has a circumference of 18.5” / 47 cm unstretched, which comfortably stretches to fit a head of 22.5” / 57 cm.
