The Starry Night cardigan takes its inspiration from Van Gogh’s wild sky in flight. The heathery shades of Elemental Affects Natural Shetland yarn add depth to the swirling stranded bands at hip and yoke. Waist shaping emphasizes the feminine look of this lightweight garment.

The sweater is knit seamlessly from the bottom up with a steek at the front opening. Not to worry--the pattern includes full instructions for securing and cutting the steek! Short rows (fully described in the pattern) drop the front neckline down to fit comfortably.

Starry Night uses five colors: the main color is Elemental Affects Periwinkle, and the patterning colors are Ochre, Lime Juice, Light Denim, and Midnight Blue. I’ve also included an alternative colorway in Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift yarn: Teviot, Blue Danube, Lime, Cornfield, and Cosmos.

The pattern is written for 6 sizes: 33, 37, 41, 45, 49, and 53” bust. Hip measurements are 2” larger. Because the motifs are not balanced it is easy to size the pattern up or down as wanted.
