Supreme is a square shawl. The center square is knit first, on the bias. Stitches are then picked up around the center square and the border is knit in one piece. A quick and simple crochet picot edging finishes the shawl off.
Gauge is measured over loose seed stitch, which is described in the pattern.
The center square takes 2 skeins of Alpaca Supreme. The border uses 1-2 skeins, depending on how large you would like to make it. A third contrast colour is used for the crocheted edging, but could be eliminated if you would prefer to use some of the yarn from the border.
The star stitch border is a rather tight stitch, so it is important to go up a needle size when knitting it. Very pointy needles will come in handy when working the star stitch border as well - something like addi turbo lace is ideal!
Directions for striping are provided, but coming up with your own stripe sequence is probably more fun - just keep in mind that you may end up using more or less of the border yarns.

06/08/14 - An updated version of Stars in the Sky is now available for download. Some errors and inconsistencies have been corrected from the original pattern, which should make it much more clear and easy to follow as well as knit. We have called the new version ‘Stars in the Sky 1.3’ as there have been a few minor edits made to the pattern already. Anyone who has already purchased the pattern on Ravelry will receive a notice of the pattern update in their inbox. If you are purchasing the pattern after the above date, you will automatically receive the updated version. Happy knitting!
