Stav is a classic, elegant, stylish and simple dress. It’s designed with ¾ sleeves and knee length but easily customizable to your own desired length. Made with Mayflower Easy Care, a 100% merino fingering weight yarn, it’s super lightweight but also quite warm and comfy. Stav is worked in the round from the bottom up, then divided at the armholes to work front and back separately. The sleeves are worked separately and will be attached later. There is some positive ease everywhere, making this dress a bit oversized. Although Stav is knit with fingering weight yarn, it’s still a rather quick knit (and the perfect knitflix project) because there are hardly any purl rows.

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS

Stav is meant to be a bit oversized, so there is a calculated 5 cm (2 inch) positive ease in the pattern. The measurements below are the finished garment measurements, not your own. You can easily customize the length of the dress by knitting more or fewer rows until splitting for the front and back.

Chest/hip circumference:
83, (92, 104, 113) (125, 133, 142) (154, 163) cm
33, (36, 41, 44) (49, 52, 56) (60, 64) inches

Armhole depth:
16, (17, 19, 20) (21, 23, 24) (25, 26) cm
6.5; (7; 7.5; 8) (8.5; 9; 9.5) (10; 10.5) inches

The pattern includes a full size chart. Feel free to email me if you need any additional measurements.

MATERIALS

Needles: 4 mm circular needle (US size 6, UK size 8) or other needle size that matches gauge. I recommend using an 80 cm or 100 cm circular for the body, depending on the size you’re knitting. The sleeves can be worked on a 40 cm circular needle, but DPNs or the magic loop method may be easier for the smaller sizes.

3,5 mm OR 3 mm 60 cm circular needle (US size 4, UK size 9) for the neck ribbing, depending on how tight you want your neck ribbing to be.

Yarn: Fingering weight yarn, approximately 1370, (1510, 1720, 1850) (2060, 2200, 2330) (2550, 2700) meters. I used Mayflower Easy Care, a 100% SW merino yarn that comes in 50 g balls (à 185 meters). It’s available at www.hobbii.com. You can also use any other fingering weight yarn that matches gauge.

Other tools: Darning needle, scissors, stitch markers, scrap yarn OR extra cable.
