From the pamphlet
’these steering gloves are similar to those issued by the Admiralty. they form a specially warm protection for the hands against biting winds and cold, for steering or driving of any description. each glove is made of two gloves connected at wrists but worked all in one piece, and, when worn, one glove is tucked inside the other. they are made as simple flat pieces of knitting and seamed up afterwards. being in ribs, they are elastic to fit various sized hands’

’for warm hands’

’each article has been designed in consultation with the Admiralty’
