Steggie is a striped, asymmetric, triangular shawl with a lace edging. It is a scrap-eating shawl meant to use up your scraps of any size to the very last bit! It is also an ideal pattern for using up minis, or feel free to use full skeins, as well!

Watch out, this shawl is destined to be your potato chip shawl… you can’t make just one! It’s just too much fun playing around with the different colors!!

Materials
Yarn
Roughly 840 (1155) yds 768 (1056)m or 200 (275)g total of fingering weight scraps or minis.

The neon rainbow model is the size Small and the more autumn/water colored shawl is the Large. The Small model contains 16 different fingering weight yarn scraps, and the large model contains 21 different fingering weight yarn scraps.

Yardage was obtained by weighing the final shawl and choosing an average length of 420yds/100g for fingering weight yarns.  This is an approximation, and if you have homogenous fingering weight scraps of either higher or lower yardage, your mileage may vary.

Needles
US5 3.75mm - 32” circular, or size to obtain gauge.  See notes about gauge.

Notions
Stitch marker, tapestry needle

Gauge
22sts x 26.5 garter ridges = 4” x 4” 10cm x 10cm in garter stitch, blocked.
24sts x 27 garter ridges = 4” x 4” 10cm x 10cm in garter stitch, unblocked.

Note about gauge:  Gauge is not crucial here, as you can end the shawl when you either run out of scraps, or feel it is large enough.  Gauge is listed if there is a concern about having enough scraps or minis. Gauge is likely to change throughout the shawl, due to the variance in thickness for different fingering weight yarns.  The above gauges are averages.

Finished Dimensions
Small: 55” 140cm wide x 18.5” 47cm tall
Large: 72” 183cm wide x 19” 48cm tall
