Dedicated to a beloved member of our local knitting group, Steph came to us as an AmeriCorps volunteer who stole our hearts. Her assignment ended just as Hurricane Sandy rolled in, hence the name Steph’s Hurricane. They are a farewell gift to her as she heads off for new life adventures.

The elongated diamond pattern is a richly textured knit and purl pattern, with the center of each diamond suggesting the eye of a hurricane. Knit from the toe up, with a gusset and heel flap, it is a sock that a relative sock knitting novice could work.

Since its design is derived from simple knit and purl patterning, this sock will look best when knit in light or medium shades of solid or semi-solid fingering weight sock yarn to catch all the subtle shadings created by the texture.
