This pattern is being used for the Portland Thorns “Stitch and Kick” Knit A Long Series. If you would like to take part in this program you will be sent a ticket to two of the Portland Thorns matches(July 15th and September 30th) along with the official pattern for the event. By signing up you will receive the pattern for both a hat and a scarf.

If you want to sign up through the Thorns organization you can go to timbers.com/stitchandkick and enter the promo code “STITCH” to purchase the pattern and the tickets to the matches.

If you would just like to knit the project you will be getting two incredible patterns created by two of our dedicated fans of the Portland Thorns Women’s Soccer team!

Materials:
For Hat:
Size 7 circular needles, either 12” or 16”
1 skein each of DK weight yarn in gray (MC) and Rose City Riveters by Knitted Wit (CC)
For Scarf:
Size 8 needles, either straight or circular
1 skein each of DK weight yarn in gray (MC) and Rose City Riveters by Knitted Wit (CC)

It is possible to make the hat and scarf from two skeins of yarn. If doing so, we recommend starting with the hat and then using the remainder of the variegated on the scarf. If that proves to be insufficient, you can lengthen the scarf by added a solid portion to the center of the scarf, separated by a garter stitch band.
The yarn quoted in the materials section above has been specially designed with a Portland Timbers and Thorns colorway and was created specifically for this knit along series, this yarn is not mandatory for participation but it looks great with the pattern. You can find the yarn through the following link:

Gauge:
