It’s International Knit in Public Day, on SATURDAY 14TH JUNE, this can mean only one thing for S&B London; the Knit Crawl!

We have a challenge to pose to you fair people of the knit. Although much fun was had on last years crawl, our bums felt the effects of stony steps, concrete floors, grassy patches and famous monuments. To keep you comfy all day long and get your creative juices flowing we are asking you to knit along with us and create your own unique Sit-upon.

The pattern designed by Steph Fairless of Iloveknitting.net is essentially a carry-along cushion, one side knitted to your own design, the other made from any waterproof fabric. It also cleverly doubles up as a bag for your project for the day. The idea is this: sling it over your shoulder and come on down to the Knit Crawl, find a spot to sit, don’t forget to take out your project, put your cushion waterproof side down and ‘sit-upon’ it. When it’s time to go simply brush off the cushion undercover, tuck away your project inside and it’s on to the next venue. Now that’s what we call multifunctional.

The pattern is available on the blog and can be customised to suit every personality and knitting style.

If you send us a picture of your finished Sit-upon or bring it to the group, we will feature your design on our blog or in the newsletter, so get creative.
