Stjörnuskoðun is Icelandic for stargazing, and I think this vintage inspired hat adorned with a freeform rose would make the perfect accompaniment for a night out watching the skies. I used my favorite technique for adding a little extra coverage for your ears without adding obvious earflaps—several short rows are worked in the brim to make the hat a little bit longer and hug each ear as you wear it. The yarn is held doubled throughout—I love the effect of holding a hand-dyed yarn doubled, it gives a beautiful mottled look to the colors, and also results in a cozier and warmer fabric.
