Construction
Our fascination with sailors and fishermen extends to their clothing. Anything tough and warm enough for them is tough enough for us. The herringbone design is arguably one of the most iconic textures found on sea-born garments. These tightly knit sweaters have been the Atlantic fisherman’s best friend for centuries. The Stone Fisher sweater has all the classic takes on what we love about the iconic nautical favorite and adds a feminine twist to it making it great for all wardrobes.
Inspired by the love of Fleece Artist wool and colorful and beautifully dyed yarn, and the love of the traditional nautical staple, the Stone Fisher is a simple classy sweater intended to showcase the yarns beauty as well as the herringbone design.
Stone Fisher is worked in the round top down working a faux sailors rib extending the length of the yoke then works a stockinette stitch for the body. (The traditional fisherman’s sweater was designed to end around the midsection because that is where their overalls would meet the sweater.) The ribbing for both body and sleeves are also worked using the pattern. This sweater is easily customizable to provide the best possible fit.
The sample photographed used Fleece Artist Kiwi (a DK weight yarn) in the color way Stone.
