We find the coziness of garter stitch lace irresistable, especially in light, soft wool. This lace rectangle, inspired by traditional Orenburg shawls of Russia, has a built-in sawtooth edging and features a traditional Shetland Rose motif within the center panel. The fabric is knit on both sides (no purling), though the lace patterning is only ever worked on RS rows.

Garter stitch (worked flat) beginning with Bottom Border edging; Center Panel main portion picked up from Bottom Border and worked in one piece with incorporated side edgings; knitted-on Top Border edging.
