The Stonewood Mini Cardigan is the children’s cardigan version of the Stonewood pullover. The cardigan is worked top-down and seamlessly in the round. The front has a steek that is cut open and then you pick up button bands on each side. Sizes 4-12 years have short-row shaped necks so the back neck is higher than the front.

The pattern features three cuff options: regular length, double folded length, and for sizes 1/4-2 years a double folded pocket cuff so the cuffs can be used as mittens.

I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Ravelry group ‘Skeindeer Knits’. It’s the best place for swift support.

Construction
This simple colourwork cardigan is worked seamlessly in the round, top-down, with a steek along the centre front. For the largest 5 sizes, there is short-row shaping at the top of the yoke to make it sit higher at the back than the front.

The rest of the cardigan is worked in plain stockinette stitch in the round, finishing off with rib for both the sleeves and the body. Finally, you pick up stitches for the buttonbands and work these flat. The cuff can be made with a fold-over pocket that works as mitts.

The steek stitches do not count towards your total stich count, and should be secured using the crochet method before you cut through. If you have substituted with superwash yarn, you should secure the steek with sewing machine seams on either side.
