Stormy Vortex is a spiral shawl that reminds me of a storm funnel cloud over the middle of the ocean. The body of the shawl is knit in the round. Then the lace border is knit and attached with whip stitch.

Techniques Used
Knitting in the round, ssk, k2tog, center decreases, whip stitch.
Size
50” (127 cm) in diameter.
Yarn
Fingering Weight - 1,300 yds (1,200 m).
Sample knit using Knitting Fever Painted Desert, Wool, 437 yds (400 m) 100 grams per skein. 1 skein each of Strawberry, Aztec and Show Stopper.
Tools
US 5 (3.75 mm) Double pointed or 2 circular needles. However you prefer to knit in the round when starting a project.
US 5 (3.75 mm) Circular Needle at least 32” (81 cm).
US 7 (4.5 mm) Circular Needle at least 32” (81 cm) or longer.
Tapestry Needle, Stitch Markers (1 one color, 7 another color).
