Stratum is an exercise in geometry! The fronts are rectangles, the center back and embellishments are wedges, and the long repeat of the yarn adds softly shifting stripes.

Denser stitch patterns in a lightweight yarn give you all the warmth you need without adding too much bulky fabric. Wear it over or under your coat collar, or as a wrap to jazz up a plain outfit with the addition of a shawl pin.

To increase or decrease the angle of the front crossing, you can easily add or subtract single crochet wedges. More wedges would orient the fronts more towards each other, less would allow them to hang straight down in front. I prefer an odd number of wedges visually, but any number will work.

Newly available as a stand alone pattern, or as always, shown in the book Curvy Girl Crochet from The Taunton Press.
