Strawberry Crochet Ball
When I first made this I was only thinking about my neighbor’s little girl. I uploaded to FB and the feedback and comments were amazing. Thanks to all FB friends for your ideas. So, yes why not make one and fill with inflatable rubber ball for a little one to play, or make a few and place in a box to decorate a plain room, or hang some on the ceiling… Have fun making it and have fun decorating with it.
Size: Pentagon: 4.25 inches from the longest points.
Ball circumference: 23 inches
• Balinese Cotton Yarn 10 ply or any size 3 yarns about 15 grams/20 meters for each pentagon
• Yarn sewing needle
• Fabric for lining 35 x 35 square inches (+/- 1.5 times of ball circumference)
• Toy filling 175 grams
Gauge: 7 sc = 1 inch 6 rows = 1 inch
This ball is easy to make once you know how to make the pentagons. Practice your hand with the crochet technique using multi color yarns and watch the video on my blog for instructions on making the strawberry stitches.
ch = Chain dc = Double Crochet sc = Single Crochet
sl st = Slip Stitch sc4tog = Single Crochet 4 stitches together
You will need to make 12 pentagons for this ball.
Thanks to Karen Khoo and friends and Official CCC Social Group for their suggestions in naming the joining stitches used in this project.
I have reworked the pattern twice, any errors please email me.
Hope you enjoy making your crochet ball as much as I enjoyed making it the first time. Yay.
