As mums of 4 i know how hard sometimes is to get your kids wear clothes you would love them to wear, specialy if its cold but they refuse any cardigan. I have 2 little Princeses, one of them will wear only dresses and other one only the same as sister. Pink preferably. All my designs are created keeping in mind busy mums (they are easy to follow, doesn’t require keeping an eye on patterns, so you can knit while your kids are playing in park, napping – any little time you can spare), tested on my own girls – there is no point of making something what will be sitting in cupboard, and suitable for changing weather we have here in Ireland – so girls can be pretty and warm at the same time.

Cupcake dress can be knitted or croche & knitted using any frilly/cancan yarn with merino/cotton/silk yarn as long as its not too tick and little one feels comfortable with feel of it (no itchy yarns).
This pattern requires basic croche and knitting or just knitting skills. I used croche in skirt part as it’s faster and lighter, but if you don’t feel comfortable using croche (or simply must invest in needles etc) then there is no need for it. I have added photo instructions on all steps, that way you will be able to knit this dress even if you just learned knit and purl.
Pattern is provided in 2 sizes - 2 (4) yr old. If you are creating dress for baby, keep in mind that nappy takes a lot of space – hip measurments for my 18 mth old are the same as 4 yr old, because one of them is in nappy, but other one realy skinny. For best results use your kids hip measurments or simply croche/cast on as long first row to fit comfortably around hips.

You will also need matching satin ribbon, I recomend to use 1.5’’ ( 4 cm) wide and 63’’ ( 160 cm) long, for smaller kid you will need shorter ribbon.

As Ice yarns don’t stock the same yarns anymore, you can look up for yarn ideas here.
