This is a companion sock to the strikingly striped socks. When I charted up the pattern, I liked it just as well for texture as for color and decided to knit up and present both versions. The textured version is a more subtle vertically striped sock that makes use of seed stitch panels between panels of knit and purl stitches to provide interest.

The seed stitch is kept continuous through the gusset with the decreases moved from the usual location in order to prevent breaking up the pattern. It’s an easy to memorize pattern repeat that lends itself to most sock weight yarns.

While the stripes stand out in the color work version of these socks, the texture of the seed stitch is the star here.

Sized for the whole family, these socks make a great gift and are a quick and fun knit. There is more give and stretch to this version than to the color work version, so a smaller needle is used.
