From the pattern description: This bath mat in navy and ecru is knitted in an unusual combination of cotton jersey strips and string to make it comfortable underfoot. Thick yarns, multiple strands and strips of other cotton fabrics could also be used to introduce different color and textures. Knitting with rags tends to result in a firm, heavy fabric suitable for making a wide variety of rugs, sturdy bags and beach or picnic mats.
