This big, soft cushion with its colourful stripes was inspired by memories of childhood. Friends whose families had a beach hut or caravan always seemed to have home-made cushions like this, which my mum would have described as ‘a bit vulgar’. The pattern is an ideal stash-buster. I used a mixture of Rowan Pure Wool DK, Sublime cashmere Merino Silk DK and various other double-knitting weight oddments, selecting the brightest colours I could find. Each 2-row stripe takes about 8 metres of yarn. I made both front and back of the cushion in colourful stripes and finished with a border of bobble braid.
