Striped Pullover - Band on the Run by Jil Eaton

Striped Pullover - Band on the Run

I made this sweater twice, once in green cotton yarn and once in navy acrylic. The cotton weight was nice for California, but the yarn had a tendency to un-twist while I was knitting left-handed, so I had to re-twist it every few stitches. It was much easier to knit with the acrylic.

I didn’t like the way the neck lay in cotton, and I re-worked it. It wasn’t stretchy enough to pull over the child’s head, and when I added stitches, it puckered and ruffled. I re-worked the neck, NOT binding off the neck stitches before picking up for the neck ribbing, and that solved the problem.

At the bottom of the sleeves and body, this sweater has no ribbing, rather it lays flat and is folded over a single row of purl.
