You do not have to make this hat in the colors I have showing, it can be made into virtually anything, including a Santa or Elf Hat, even a Gnome!

I love to read! It is a love that I have passed on to my children, and now my grandchildren. Using props to excite a child’s love of reading is a wonderful way to create engagement, and build a relationship between your child, and their favorite characters.

I created this hat for my grandson, Lucca. He loves the book “Harold Loves His Woolly Hat” by Vern Kousky, and he was so excited about this hat, that he would not take it off. I hope your little feels the same way.

This is an Easy. Easy Stitches, Easy Repeats, but there are a couple of spots where you have to pay attention to stitch placement. You absolutely have to know how to crochet to complete this pattern.

• Any size 4 yarn will probably work, you will need 2 colors (CA—Your choice, CB—Your choice) For the Hat pictured I used I Love This Yarn in Red and Marigold.
• –Size I//9-5.50mm (I use Boye)
• Tapestry Needle
• Pom Pom (Yarn or Fur)

Approximate Yardage
• 6-9 Month-46 Yds. Color A, 43 Yds. Color B
• 9-12 Month-54 yds. Color A, 48 yds. Color B,
• 2-5 years-65 yds. Color A, 54 yds. Color B.
• Child-76 yds. Color A, 60 yds. Color B
• Teen/SmAdult-80 yds. Color A, 73 yds. Color B
• Average Adult-95 yds. Color A,86 yds. Color B.

Gauge
• 6 HDC and 4 Rows = 2 inches
If you are not meeting gauge, try changing your tension, or go up or down a hook size.
