My Sicilian Grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was seven and granny squares were the first thing I tackled after learning chains and single crochet. I’m always looking for new ways to use what I already know and this rearrangement of the Granny just tickles me. The scarf is worked lengthwise from the center out giving you the classic granny square shape at the ends. The hat is worked from the brim up with three, evenly spaced decreases at the crown.
