This cosy cowl takes its name from the botanical name for the cone of a pine, fir or other conifer tree, since the textured pattern of interlacing diamond motifs is reminiscent of pine cone scales. The Strobilus cowl is knitted in the round with DK yarn - though the pattern looks complex it features only basic stitches and yarn overs, making this a great project for even an ambitious novice knitter.
