The comedic Harlequin is notorious for his brightly colored tights featuring a diamond pattern. His patterned tights would be a garish shock to the eye. In contrast, the diamond pattern in the Subtle Harlequin Shawlette’s body is done texturally with simple knit and purl stitches. It is crescent in shape, and worked from the top down, finishing with a zany Tilted Blocks Lace Edging. I used 4 skeins (136.7 yards each skein) of Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima Fine cotton yarn in lavender. Although this yarn is sport weight, because it is highly elastic, it stretches quite a bit after blocking. My shawlette ended up being just over 5 feet in length and 20 inches at the center deepest point. Complete written instructions, stitch counts and charts are included in the pattern.
