Inspired by the wide sandy desert areas of Egypt and the Suez canal. The right foot has an all over lightly textured pattern to represent sand; the left foot continues the sandy texture but has a purl channel for the Suez canal running down the leg and opening up into a textured coastline across the top of the foot. This pattern is worked from the top down with a heel flap.

Note: The coast pattern is not geographically accurate; you can use your own arrangement of cable crosses to produce a unique coastline if you wish. Please do not attempt to use this map to navigate the Egyptian coast!

Skills: Cast on, working in the round, knit, purl, working flat, picking up stitches, cabling, decreasing stitches, grafting stitches, weaving in ends.

Sizing: Pattern gives stitch counts for small (medium, large, extra large) adult size; approximately equivalent to 17.5 (20.5, 23, 24) cm circumference at ball of foot.
