An elegantly proportioned slouchy hat knitted in contrasting yarns to create a frosted-effect fabric, with a rolled brim and tidy crown decreases. A fast, easy knit with many possibilities to play with yarn combinations.

SIZE
54-56 cm (21-22 in)
To fit average woman

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Brim circumference (unstretched): 46 cm (18 in)
Length: 24.5 cm (9 5/8 in)
For best results, allow 10 cm (4 in) of negative ease

GAUGE
22 sts & 34 rounds = 10 cm (4 in) in Stocking Stitch using larger needles and holding a strand of yarn A and B together

YARN A: Approximately 128 metres (140 yards) of a fuzzy lace-weight yarn (Rowan Kidsilk Haze is an excellent substitute)

YARN B: Approximately 128 metres (140 yards) of fingering-weight yarn in a fibre of your choice - use up those sock yarns ;)

Sample was made holding a strand of Filatura Di Crosa Superior and ColourMart Shiny Cotton together.

I’ve added a little tutorial on how to block the hat in my notes: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CityPurl/sugar-cane-2
