Inspired by the shawls of the Faroe Islands, this colorful shawl stays put on your shoulders with its V-shaped top edge. Sock-weight yarn and a large hook allow for terrific drape. The rich shell stitching of the shawl body is punctuated with a ruffled shell edging.

  • FINISHED SIZE: About 52” wide across top edge and 28” long from top to bottom at center.

  • YARN: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock (80% superwash wool, 20% nylon; 215 yd 197 m/2 oz 57 g): #610 zombie bbq, 8 hanks.

  • HOOK: Sizes H/8 (5 mm) and G/6 (4.25 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

  • NOTIONS: Yarn needle.

  • GAUGE: 7 reps (22 sts including 1 dc) = 4 1/2” and 11 rows (including set-up dc row) = 4” in front back-shell pattern with larger hook, blocked.
