Experimenting with creating a large, ribbon-like, ruffle lead to the creation of these feminine, romantic mitts. The wrist is knit flat and side-to-side in garter stitch in white yarn, and then, switching to a heathered grey yarn, stitches are picked up from the edge and knit in stockinette stitch. The white contrast yarn is used at the top of the thumb and hand to finish the mitts in garter stitch.

This pattern is available along with the matching Sugar Step Hat in ebook form.

A photo tutorial on how to complete the ruffle is included with the pattern.

I’ve offered three sizes for this pattern and recommend you pick a size with zero ease or slight negative ease in the hand for best fit. The wrist is knit to a smaller circumference than the hand to allow for the vertical stretch of the garter stitch.
