This cardigan is perfect for every occasion: from effortlessly casual to classic office to evening or more formal events. All with the stroke of our needles.

A cabled pattern adorns the bottom and cuff edges of this design, surrounded by an all-over body stitch pattern that is easy-to-knit. The main feature is the upper back, where the cable pattern increases towards the shoulders and neckband in a flattering shape.

This cardigan is knit from the bottom up, back and forth in rows to the underarm. The fronts and back are then worked separately, flat, and then joined at the shoulders. The sleeves are then worked seamlessly from the top down to the cuff. The button bands are picked up and knit along the front edges before then picking up and knitting the neckband to finish.

The pattern includes both charted and written directions; the written directions are color-coded according to sizes. The sleeve caps are also individually charted for each size. Tutorial links and helpful suggestions for additional clarity and to make the construction as straightforward as possible. US and metric measurements.

The first two pages of the pattern are provided as an example.

Yarn recommendation of a solid or semi-solid merino blend that has a good stitch definition to show the stitch and cable patterns. A variegated yarn is not recommended, as the cable pattern will not show well. Your yarn choice will also allow you to make your cardigan more formal, if desired.
