Pdf pattern for an infinity scarf, also known as a mobius loop, in single and half-double crochet. The scarf is made with a built-in twist. That’s right, instead of trying not to twist the stitches when joining in the round, you deliberately add a twist. The advantages of a mobius scarf are the improved draping qualities, no ends to worry about tying and it is seamless and reversible (since there is only one side on a mobius loop it isn’t really reversible but it is the same throughout).

This scarf was designed with summer in mind. Medium weight cotton yarn is called for such as Handicrafter by Bernat. It is not as wide as most winter scarves, only 4.5 inches, 11 cm. It is still nice and long so your can wrap it around twice to get that cowl look. The finished circumference is 64 in., 163 cm. It is an infinity loop so it has a built-in twist.

There is more than one way to make an infinity loop. Some patterns just make a rectangle then twist and sew the ends together. This pattern is made in the round, without seams. The first row is actually in the center and you work outwards from there. The top part of the scarf has front facing stitches while the bottom has back facing stitches. Don’t ask me to explain it. But I will explain how to make one, including photos to illustrate the method.

The center of this scarf is single crochet. Then there are three rows of open meshwork and then a single crochet edging. The open texture is just right for summer. An open, airy, lightweight scarf to add flair without too much weight.

If you’ve been wanting to try an infinity scarf, here is a good starter pattern. It is much easier than knitting since you don’t have to do that tricky cast on. With crochet, you are only dealing with one stitch at a time.
You will need 3 balls of the twists or ombres Handicrafter Cotton or 2 balls of the solid colors. The scarves in the photos were crocheted in Green Twist, Swimmimg Pool Blue and Pinky Stripes.
