Summer Snowdrop is a delicate sleeveless summer garment with a close-fitting bodice and flared skirt.

The 10 page pattern provides instructions for two styles, long dress and a tunic, and two age groups:

  • a long dress has a pleated border skirt

  • and a tunic has a moderately flared skirt, and a different skirt bottom detail

  • the Toddler Girls design (from 12 months up to 5 years) has a bigger skirt to bodice width ratio

  • and the Big Girls design (6 to 12 years) has a slimmer style

Designed to be worked seamlessly in the round starting at waistline; first, a skirt is worked down to the hem, then the bodice is worked up from the cast on live stitches to the underarm.

The design features all-over eyelet stitch patterns with the waistband, neckline and armhole bands worked in a contrast colour.

The sample is knitted in sport weight yarn, however the dress can be knitted in fingering weight yarn, if the pattern recommended gauge is obtained. It is recommended to choose the fingering weight yarn for a dress in larger sizes to avoid the skirt to be too heavy.

Gauge:

26 sts x 30 rows to 10cm/4in square over bodice stitch pattern
24 sts x 30 rows to 10cm/4in square over stockinette stitch
