Sunbeam is a sleeveless top that is worked flat in two pieces and then seamed together. The golden silk yarn in the front highlights the architectural lines of the stitch pattern, and the black silk blend adds simple contrast to this sophisticated piece. The front gold panel also boasts a scalloped hem that forms naturally from the pattern repeat.
This piece knits up quite quickly and, though the construction and design is simple, it’s a stunning piece to add to your summer wardrobe.

Yarn: 2/2/2/3/4/5 skeins Egmont (50 g/115 m, 100% silk yarn) in golden yellow & 2/2/3/3/4/5 skeins Manos del Uruguay silk blend (50 g/135 m) (70% merino + 30% silk) in black.
Egmont is a small batch hand-dyed yarn from a producer in BC (unwindknitandfibre.ca), and does not appear to be available any longer. Look for a sport weight yarn that’s all or part silk to substitute (try Purl Soho’s Spun Silk). You could also use a 100% silk yarn in place of the Manos del Uruguay silk blend.

Needles: 4 mm needle (or size required to obtain gauge).

Gauge: 24 sts = 4” (stockinette). (Row count gauge is not overly important to measure or match if you have two different yarns since pieces are worked to length rather than by number of rows).

Sizing: 30/33/36/39/42/45” around bust (includes 1-2” positive ease).

Other Materials Required: Seaming needle & stitch holder.
