Sunbreaks – those little bursts of sunlight that pop through the clouds – are like little jolts of hope and happiness to us in the Pacific Northwest. They can be what get us through a grey day, or month! These socks use slipped stitches to create a woven-looking pattern that is pleasing, but not too difficult – just enough to lighten your day.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Size: Small (Medium, Large) to fit foot circumference approximately 8.5 (9, 9.5) inches/21.5 (23, 24) cm

Yarn: The Violet Valentine Favorite Sock; 80% Superwash Merino Wool/20% nylon; 400 yards/100 g (365 m/3.5 oz); sample shown in colorway, “Stormalong”

Needle: US 1.5/2.5 mm needles, or whatever size you need to achieve gauge: double-pointed needles (DPNs), flexible DPNs, 1 long circular for working magic loop, 2 circulars, etc., according to your preference for working small diameter in the round

Gauge: 32 stitches and 48 rounds per 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch
