We sense a whiff of Audrey Hepburn-era Givenchy about this design, with its open front, clean lines, and clever gathers. You begin by making the squared-off yoke (shaped with wrapped short rows; you can find explanations for these on the internet). Then you make the belled fronts and back and collar. You assemble most of the garment and wash it (Riveting begs for machine washing and drying), and sew the collar on afterward. It’s an intensely classic look: gracious, feminine, flattering.
