This is a fairly simple pattern with a nice chunky Celtic-like cable running along the top. It’s easy to adjust in various ways, depending on what type of mittens (or gloves) you want to make.

Pattern variations
I designed this pattern with a long cuff, but I have provided instructions for adjusting them to have a short or medium length cuff as well. I have also included instructions for variations for the fingers including cut-off fingers (as seen in photos), full-length gloves, and no finger divisions.

The pattern was originally designed for a men’s medium sized mitten, so it may be a little bit large for small-handed people. You can experiment with decreasing stitches, but you will need to do some math to figure out where to make the cable and thumb gusset. You can also experiment with using smaller needles or a DK weight yarn.

• US 5 DPNs*
• US 6 DPNs*

• Tapestry needle
* Or sizes needed to obtain gauge. Also, if using magic loop, long circular needles instead of DPNs is fine.

• Short cuff ~ 2 inches
• Medium cuff ~ 4 inches
