This shawl uses the sunspots stitch from Barbara Walker’s 3rd Treasury. To invoke the idea of the sun, I named the shawl Surya who is the main sun god in the Hindu religion.

The pattern is both written and charted.

Materials:

  • Size 3.75mm (US 5) circular needles (at least 32”/80cm long)
  • Crochet Hook (size G/4mm) for garter tab cast-on
  • Scrap yarn
  • Stitch markers (4)
  • Tapestry needle

Yarn: approx. 400 for the shawlette and 575 yards for the shawl in heavy lace or fingering weight yarn. Used in photos:
