Pleated triangular eyelet bands of stockinette alternating with reverse stockinette give dramatic shape and texture to these socks. The cuffs can be pushed down on the leg to wear like sophisticated slouch socks. Or wear pulled up and show off the pretty lace cable along each side of the leg.

Adult medium. 350 yards sportweight yarn, 6½ stitches/inch, size US / 3.0 mm needles suggested. Charted and written stitch instructions.

Solid and variegated color sample models of this design are shown, each resulting in a very different look to this single design! The solid color model was knitted in Haneke Exotics alpaca/angora/merino yarn. The other sample model was knitted in handspun variegated wool and silk yarn. Do you see how the swags are emphasized with the changes in color? With the popularity of commercially available yarns in long color runs, you now don’t have to spin your own yarn to get this effect.
