This design is part of a three-pattern, 26-page, full color evocative guide. Other designs included are previewed in the bottom photos.

The Swahili Basket vest is in homage to African basket-weavers. Knit in variegated hues of straw gold punctuated by bands of ebony and knitted cross stitch, this vest can be worn either buttoned with the upper edges folding over collar-like or crossed over the front and fastened with a pin.

A straw hue exists for every complexion: if blond, go with wheat, redheads for gold and ‘winter’ complexions aim for taupe or greyed tones. Truly, a dried grass exists for everyone but if you prefer gluten-free, go Zulu with color! This design would be a stunner in any hue punctuated by bands of color.

The cross-stitch, by the way, only looks complicated. It’s actually easy and fun!
