Gauge: 16-19 sts in 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch (row gauge is not important for this pattern)

Your gauge will determine how wide your hat’s headband part is going to be. The pictured sample is made in yarn with 16 sts gauge.
For 16 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 24 cm / 9 ½ in
For 17 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 23 cm / 9 in
For 18 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 21 cm / 8 ¼ in
For 19 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 20.5 cm / 8 in
